Feline / Canine Adoption

Our Adoption Process

  • Search for kitties and doggies here: or come to one of our adoption events (in person or online).
  • Once you find an animal that you are interested in adopting, then complete our Adoption Application.
  • After submission, your application will be reviewed and a P.A.W.S. representative will be in contact with you. If you have not already met your potential adoptee, a P.A.W.S. representative will contact you to set up a meet and greet of your kitty or dog (in person or virtually).
  • After meeting with your new kitty or dog, and if everything is a match, your application will be approved.
  • The last step is to sign our Adoption Contract and paying the kitty adoption fee of $50 or the doggie adoption fee of $75 (Please Note: We do not profit from adoptions but attempt to recover some of the expenses incurred with spay/neutering, vaccinations, foster care, etc.).
  • You will either pick up the animal or it will be delivered to your home.
  • We will follow up with you a few days after the adoption to make sure you and your new family member are adjusting well.

*P.A.W.S. lists adoptable felines and canines in our care here on Adopt-a-Pet.com.

Sometimes animals are posted on our Facebook page. If you are interested in one you have seen on our Facebook page, we will be happy to set up a meeting with them.

Adoptions

Our goal to find loving, forever homes for the rescued and surrendered animals in P.A.W.S. care, and to help others in the community with re-homing their animals. It is crucial that we find safe, permanent homes for animals.

P.A.W.S. Adoptable Animals

All adoptable cats posted on the P.A.W.S. website (via Adopt-a-Pet) are spayed or neutered, tested for FIV & FeLV, and receive Rabies, FeLV, and HCPCh vaccines. They are also treated for ear mites, fleas, worms, and any medical matters as needed. All adoptable dogs posted on the P.A.W.S. website (via Adopt-A-Pet) are spayed or neutered and have received at least their rabies vaccinations.

Adopter Requirements

P.A.W.S. requires adopters to be over 18 years of age and have a verifiable source of income (which can be employment, social security, disability payments, savings, etc.) to support their new cat or dog. Adopters must either own their own home, or have verifiable permission from a landlord that a new animal is permitted in the home.

All adopters, regardless of whether you are adopting an animal in P.A.W.S. care or from a community member/partner, must sign an Adoption Contract and pay the required adoption fee.

Please note that we require all adopters to provide shelter, food, water, love, and medical care if necessary throughout the lifetime of their adoptee, and never surrender them to the city, give them away, abandon them, or harm them. P.A.W.S. will always take back an animal that has been in its care rather than see them surrendered or in an unsafe or bad situation.*

*Please note that P.A.W.S. helps others in the community re-home their cats and dogs. In those cases, P.A.W.S. cannot guarantee that the person will take the animal back. However, we encourage adopters to contact P.A.W.S. to help with their re-homing needs.
